Depression, bad body odor, impaired vision — these are only a few things that might happen to our mind and body if we stop eating fruits and vegetables. There are plenty of ingredients in veggies and fruits that cannot be found in any other foods, and if we ditch them, we may experience various issues with our health.
Here at CLAMOTION we became curious about what exactly may happen to our body if we kick veggies out of our plates and try to only eat protein. The things we’ve discovered made us want to eat an apple or 2 right away, and we wonder if you’ll start wishing the same after reading this article.
You may have impaired night vision.
If our night vision becomes worse, it may result in a higher risk for falling in the darkness, it’s also crucial for safe driving at night. To see objects in the darkness, our eyes need Vitamin A, which can be found in 2 forms: retinol and beta-carotene. Retinol can be found in cod liver, fish oil, and eggs, but it is highly-toxic when you have too much. While eating vegetables and fruits, it’s impossible to overdose on beta-carotene.
Your body may start smelling worse.
There are a few factors that contribute to the odor we emit from our bodies. Just like eye and hair color, genetics determine the natural smell that comes from our oil and sweat glands. In addition, the food that we eat influences our body odor greatly. A study found that people who eat vegetables and fruit have a more pleasant body odor, even if they’ve not used soap or deodorant for a while.
Ditching vegetables and fruits may cause depression.
Our gut and brain are very closely connected, scientists claim. A balanced diet can not only influence the shape of our body, but it is essential for our mental health. When we refuse to eat veggies and fruits, we may have a higher risk for depression, according to numerous studies. It is a common belief that being depressed makes us eat unhealthy food, but unhealthy eating is not a result of depression.
You might see your blood pressure climb.
According to research, people who consume little to no fruits and vegetables, are at a higher risk for high blood pressure compared to those who eat them as the main part of their daily diet. Doctors highly recommend, to those who have high pressure, to stick to a diet that contains a lot of fruits and vegetables.
